Q: What are some tips for getting a home ready to show?

A: It is essential that when the property first goes on the market, that it is thoroughly clean; this is extremely important in the kitchen and all bathrooms. ]

The house should be free of any unpleasant odors, any clutter (reduced or eliminated, and all repairs and updates being made by the homeowner/seller should be finished before any showings.

All closets should be neat and orderly, and any excessive clothes, shoes, etc., should be eliminated to make these spaces appear as large as possible.

Also, if applicable, the entire yard needs to be mowed or maintained on a regular basis to ensure that the buyer’s first impression is the very best.

If at all possible, the property should be prepared for all showings by having a comfortable interior temperature, all lights in working condition and shades or curtains open to reveal views and natural light.

Remember: You only have one chance to make a first impression with each potential buyer, so it needs to be as positive as possible.
